Modular Adaptations

Rapid function with minimal disruption
Modular systems restore essential function quickly. They suit urgent discharge, interim housing, and the first phase of a larger adaptation.
ARN Projects works with architects, occupational therapists, and landlords to install modular shower pods, external ramp systems, and pre-fabricated components that fit the space and meet clinical needs while protecting budgets by limiting fabric alterations.
When modular makes sense
Choose modular when time is tight, consent is limited, or the property makes traditional works difficult. Self-contained shower pods avoid extensive tiling and tanking.
Modular ramps create safe level access without heavy regrading. Freestanding or surface-fixed parts can be removed, reconfigured, or upgraded later.
You get reliable daily use now, and you keep options open for permanent works when circumstances change.
Clinical fit and buildability
We start with measured ability, transfer routes, and equipment needs. Working to the design team’s drawings, we match modules to the available space and services.
We verify clearances, door widths, floor build ups, and drainage so the system performs as intended. If gravity falls are not possible, we install pumped drainage with proper access for servicing.
If structure is uncertain, we use spreader plates or freestanding frames to protect the fabric.
Governance, safety, and documentation
Scopes are itemised and approvals are recorded before work begins.
RAMS, safeguarding, and DBS checked teams are standard.
At handover you receive product certificates, warranties, manuals, and photographs, plus a simple maintenance schedule so the system stays safe and reliable.
Typical modular solutions we deliver
We provide clinically informed, regulation compliant modular installations with predictable delivery, coordinating closely with architects, OTs, and housing teams.
- Shower pods with anti slip floors, integrated seating and grab supports, door or curtain options, and pumped or gravity drainage
- External access systems with modular ramps, landings, handrails, and upstands built to safe gradients and tight footprints
- Transfer aids including freestanding or surface fixed supports and rails, plus compact step units where appropriate
- Staged kits that provide temporary function now and dovetail with later permanent works to avoid rework and wasted spend
Managing constraints in real homes
Homes often have limits on space, noise, and services. We respond with compact pod footprints, acoustic planning for pumps, and coordinated routes for power and drainage.
In rentals and listed properties, we favour solutions that fix to reversible substrates or use freestanding frames.
We also agree clear make good plans for the end of tenancy or future alterations.
