A.R.N Projects was commissioned to sensitively restore a Grade II listed cottage while delivering a bold yet complementary contemporary extension. The brief demanded a careful balance between heritage conservation and modern architectural expression.
Our team meticulously restored the original brickwork, timber features, and traditional detailing to preserve the character and historic integrity of the cottage, working in close alignment with conservation requirements.
In contrast, the new single-storey extension was designed as a striking contemporary addition, defined by clean lines, expansive glazing, and a refined material palette that respectfully differentiates old from new. A glazed link structure seamlessly connects the historic dwelling to the modern extension, creating a transparent architectural transition that enhances natural light and frames views of the surrounding countryside.
